This mudroom was added to a summer cottage when the homeowners retired year round to the area and needed an entry suitable for winter use as well.  There is plenty of shelving which holds baskets of gloves and hats, a bench for putting on boots (or storing sandals underneath in summer!), and a compact built-in desk for the daily business of running a household.  The extra space is well-insulated to provide a break from the wind and cold that used to blow directly into the house.  The talented homeowner built the desktop and bench, and even has a place to showcase his own artwork of driftwood and stones.
